design to daily operations to disposal of previously
used products, we are constantly seeking new ways to
manufacture ecologically responsible products and
operate in a manner that supports the principles of
reduce, reuse and recycle.
These are some of the environmentally friendly products
and policies that are an integral part of our company’s
dedication to environmentally sustainable operations.
Recycling Program*
We want to keep used traffic doors out of
landfills. To support this goal, we created a door
recycling program. If anyone ships us (PREPAID) a used
Mueller traffic door removed from their facility, we
will take responsibility for recycling it at no charge.

Recyclable Products
Our design engineering team worked hard to
develop several traffic door models that are 100%
recyclable. These doors are generally recycled into the
building products industry.
The
rest of our models are waiting their turn to become
completely recyclable, but they can still be turned into
our recycling program. They are eligible for processing
to recycle many of their components.
Environmentally Friendly
Insulating Components
Rather than using Urethane foam insulation
that often requires an environmentally unfriendly
reaction agent to expand, we insulate our doors with
Styrene, a designated Green Agent.
High Efficiency Insulated Doors
The more efficient an insulated door is
the less air has to be heated or cooled – resulting in
measurable energy savings. The competition’s insulated
doors are filled with Urethane, which breaks down over
time and allows water to infiltrate. This reduces their
insulating value.
Mueller Door uses energy Efficient Styrene which holds
it's R value Indefinitely, thus providing consistent
energy efficiency over the life of the door. Our
patented molded door panel design starts with a 2.5 inch
thick Styrene core and delivers the highest R values
available in the traffic door industry. |

We
were also the first in the industry to offer brush seals
all the way around our insulated traffic doors, which an
independent study demonstrated are substantially more
durable and efficient than vinyl seals.
100% Maintenance Free Hinge Systems
Our patented maintenance free continuous beam hinge
system is an innovation that serves more than just the
needs of our customers. By eliminating the need for
monthly service calls to retail facilities for routine
door lubrication, we also reduce traffic, vehicle
related air pollution and fossil fuel usage, as well as
a create a reduction in the overall usage of
petroleum-based lubricants in the traffic door industry.
